shopify update - Unable to receive emails from our store

We have confirmed an issue where you are not receiving an order confirmation email from our store.

It seems to occur mainly with the following addresses: @ezweb.ne.jp, @docomo.ne.jp, @softbank.ne.jp, hotmail, and icloud . This seems to be a problem caused by improved email filter functionality, and is occurring nationwide.

We have also received reports that the email ended up in your spam folder , so please check your spam and promotion folders.

We also recommend registering with Gmail , as there is less chance of non-delivery .

The following may be the cause.

- It has been moved to your spam or promotions folder.
- Due to security reasons, the settings are such that the email is considered spam and cannot be received.
- You have set up your email to be rejected (e.g. by specifying a domain).

There is no problem with the ordering system, so the order itself has arrived properly. This is an event where you are not receiving the email automatically sent from our store.

Inquiries from customers

We have received a number of inquiries from customers saying, ``I placed an order, but I did not receive a confirmation email. Have you placed your order?'', so we investigated.

This was not a single inquiry, and the order confirmation email from Shopify said "Sent Completed," so it is not a mistake in the customer's email address.

Undelivered due to security improvements

If you search the internet, you will find many stores with similar problems, and many pages with warnings about "If you do not receive emails from our store."

In particular, mobile carrier mail and highly recognized free mail have a large number of users, so each mail service has a high level of anti-spam mail by default.

As a result of this, there are many cases of undelivered emails, not just at our store.

Currently, there are two issues that we are aware of based on inquiries from customers.

・If it is in your spam folder
・If the email does not arrive

There is no perfect solution

It seems that there are some people who are having trouble with the exact same problem, and Coconara is recruiting.

I spent several days researching various blogs, articles, and help, and fixed it. However, in the end, it was not a complete solution.

Confirmed the description that DKIM is not supported .

For now, what we can do at this point is to set up an SPF record to avoid being treated as spam, and to recommend registering with Gmail, which has less chance of non-delivery .

Improving security to prevent spam emails is a good thing, but why is it so difficult?Security and convenience are contradictory...

We will keep our eyes peeled and continue our update system until the day a solution is found.
