タンニン鞣しの革と、クロム鞣しの革は何が違うの?

What is the difference between tanned leather and chrome tanned leather?

Tannin-tanned leather and chrome-tanned leather are leathers made using different tanning methods.

Tannin-tanned leather is leather that is tanned using plant-based tannins.

Tannins are extracted from plants such as wood, nuts, bark, leaves, pericarp, and flowers.

Tannins increase the flexibility and durability of leather and give it a brownish hue.

Because tanned leather is made from natural materials, it is environmentally friendly, has a good texture, and is highly breathable.

The way leather changes depending on the environment in which it is used is called ``aging,'' and it is possible to use it for a long time while enjoying this as a quality of leather.

Additionally, because it has the property of hardening (plasticity) when wet with water and dried, unique designs and products that take advantage of the material's characteristics can be created.

However, tanned leather tends to be more susceptible to water and sweat than chrome-tanned leather.

Chrome tanned leather, on the other hand, is leather that has been tanned using mineral-derived chromium salt.

Chrome-tanned leather is softer, more resistant to water and sweat, and more durable than tannin-tanned leather, and comes in a wide variety of colors.

However, chrome-tanned leather is more environmentally friendly than tannin-tanned leather, and may feel a little worse to the touch.

Additionally, chrome-tanned leather tends to deteriorate with long-term use.
