[Leather] Difference between hand sewing and machine sewing 3

I started my career in leatherwork by hand sewing.
Hand sewing takes a lot of time to sew.

Until I started using a sewing machine for work in earnest,
I thought, ``Machine sewing is great because it sews automatically and smoothly, so it's just a little bit of a hassle.''

That was not the case at all.

“Sewing machines are difficult…”
If you let your guard down for a moment, you may go off course, the stitch width may change, the thread tension may not match, etc. There are so many things you need to be aware of.

If you can't move it freely like a part of your body, you will make mistakes.
Moreover, if you don't sew at high speed, you won't be able to do any work.

riding a sewing machine

You are walking down a narrow, single road. And it's a zigzag path. If you miss a step, you will fall into the abyss. .

1. Walk forward
2. Ride on a bike

Which is easier?

Of course, option 1 is safer.

However, work requires speed. So I have to get on my bike and move quickly.

Scary, right? It was scary! So I practiced it many times on private land (haggis leather) and made it a part of my body.

Before I knew it, I used to refer to handling a sewing machine as ``riding on a sewing machine.'' When someone pointed out to me, ``What a way to say that!'' I said, ``!?'' What do you mean? Anyway, it's a similar feeling to "riding a bike".

It is required to finish quickly and with high quality.

I have actually seen the high quality work of master hand stitchers.
I wondered if I could express that level with a sewing machine...it's not that difficult. I practiced anyway.
